Slim,

Where I'm hanging my hat is on the totality of things. The guy is smart,
his wife may be smarter. He's a smooth talker who can make women swoon and
men "hope" or "change" or "hope to change" or whatever. He can write. He's
obviously very talented. So was Elmer Gantry. Is being a good motivational
speaker all the qualifications one needs to be a leader? What exactly did
the guy do in the Illinois Senate other than skip the tough votes. What has
he done in the US Senate other than earn the award for being the most
reliably liberal voter in that body? What other successes can he point to?
Did he run a hot dog stand? A newspaper route?

I personally don't put much stock in the imagery, there's plenty of other
stuff to wonder about. He may be the best leader to come out of Illinois
since A. Lincoln. On the other hand, what do we really know about this
guy? I can't say with 100% certainty I won't vote for him given my dislike
for McCain but it will take some more education on who he is. So far, I'm
not impressed.
