Elle,

Hey, hey, no NY bashing.  They're called "curb feelers" here and they were 
on my '57 Chevy, though they most definitely weren't magnetic...

I think that you're referring to the "Park-by-Feel" system advocated by our 
new governor.

I never had much of a problem lining up with the trailer, just center rear 
window on bow stop and back towards trailer until license plate makes a 
crunching sound - no problem.
