In 10 seasons of use, in winds from 2 knots to 22 knots, we've had
only a couple of minor problems with our furler. Both easily corrected.

We've twice had the screw that holds the gooseneck to the "doughnut"
inside the mast come loose. In each case it was easily fixed. Once
was recently in setting up the mast. The other was early on when
sailing. In both cases routine checking of that part would have
identified the problem before it became a problem.

The only other time we've had a problem furling was when the aft end
of the boom was held too high by the topping lift. The main furls
much better if the boom is horizontal or slightly below horizontal.

While it's usually recommended that you furl with the boat facing
upwind, we have furled successfully off the wind. You need to let the
outhaul out and be prepared for a racket as the sail flaps but it does work.

We use Sail Kote as a lubricant once a season on the moving parts
and also use it on the edges of the slot in the mast while we have
the mast down.
