And, because this is a holiday weekend, you won't find many people hanging
around the list until Tuesday or Monday night.

Hello Mazz The Mixer:

You failed to state where things would be shipped to. Consider distance a
factor.

Consider that any boat that is 82 or later that is offered for sale and is
in descent condition and Stan believes that price if fair, he will either
buy it for recycle or broker it. If it needs major renovation, then he
leaves that for individual with boat building skills.

Boat building skills include cabinet making skills. Could he ship
components for cabinets? Probably, but when putting in cabinets on boats,
and that includes new ones from the molds, one size does not fit all.
Shaping and fitting require cabinet making skills and lots of time. That is
a big reason why recycled boats
costs as much as they do. If he shipped part like those, it would still
require a cabinet maker to put them in so that there were right.

Sails are another matter. Stan sells new sails all the time. Occassionally
he ships them. When using the term shipping, remember that Stan does not
have a shipping department. So anything he ships has to be easily packaged
and shipped from the local UPS store in Edenton.

Another thing to consider is something that Stan does do: Custom Recycle.
You bring the boat to Sta and he rebuilds it to your specs. Then on the
other side you come and get your boat.

Because a boat may float does not mean it is easily useable or readily
useable. Rebuilding a sailboat that requires work usually takes months,
sometimes years and lots of money. Ask recent boat rebuilders Lou Rosenberg
and John Shulick. These two guys are currently on the list. Many others
have cleaned up and rebuilt Rhodes 22's.

Consider whether you should try to rebuild a sailboat. I have done it. It
takes more time than you imagine. You will spend more than your budget.
You should not have other family responsibilities requiring your time. On
the otherhand, if it is the only way you can get a sailboat, then evaluate
it and make your dicision according to time and money to do project.

Again, feel free to post questions to this owners forum. Also wait a few
days until all respond to get various opinions.
