[Rhodes22-list] POLITICAL-Palin Begins 2012 Campaign

Dave,

Herb's analysis has it about right. Palin was drawing crowds twice the
size of McCain and 10 times Biden in the same venues. Palin "burst"
onto the scene and the press went for her jugular, snooping through
dumpsters, trashing her family, etc. Those of you on "da list" heard
about her long before the general public did. Now the MSM is coming
out of the closet and admitting "yeah, we were in the tank for Obama".
It probably wouldn't have mattered in the long run, if you look at
the county by county results for the nation, it was almost identical
to 2000 and 2004 except Obama did much better in the big cities and
that made the difference. The 'netroots' crowd are already pissed off
because they realize they were deceived. Obama has chosen mostly
ex-Clintonista's for his cabinet (a good move IMHO) and for the short
term, there's not much hope for change. A lot depends on the economy.
If things are good 4 years from now O will coast to a second term.
If not, he'll be Jimmy Carter the second.

The GOP has a lot of soul searching to do. Choosing McCain, a
Democrat-lite, was the wrong move. Conservatives like myself would
rather lose a few elections in search of the next Reagan than water
down the message of the benefits of smaller government. There's some
interesting people on the horizon including Bobby Jindal. Palin will
be the voice of conservatives until the next star is born.
