No, they have to win outright.  The way our pool works is that when you pick
an underdog who pulls the upset, you get the number of points that they were
favored by.  So the bigger upset you pick, the bigger jump you get.  

I've had two pretty good sized winners this season, and I was tied for first
place until an Arkansas grad correctly picked their upset over Auburn.
Funny I don't remember who my winners were, but a lot of my losers (and ones
I almost picked but incorrectly didn't) stick with me.

But it's a fun pool, and gives me a rooting interest in a lot of games,
lasting all season.

That might be a good suggestion.  Somehow, they're a 5.5 point favorite over
#20 Pitt this week.
