Richard,

McCain was getting killed prior to the convention by everyone OTHER than
Obama. When Obama emerged as the nominee it was on the basis of youth,
sex appeal, change, and the assumption that the Republicans would match
his old white man vp with an old white man vp of their own.

Sarah Palin is the governor of the largest state in the Union with the
6th largest GDP per capita in the nation. She has proved an able
administrator, tough negotiator, and highly respected leader.

Her state has a pro-choice constitution that pre-dates Roe v. Wade, and
neither she nor anyone else has ever made the slightest attempt to
reverse it.

Like Joe Biden, Mario Cuomo, and a host of others, she was born
Catholic, and takes the tenets of her religion seriously; however, like
them, she has repeatedly stated that she will not allow her personal
views to influence her duties regarding public policy, and the will of
the people.

Dr. Howard Dean was still practicing medicine in 1991 in Vermont, the
second least populous state of the Union after Wyoming -- home of our
current VP. He was also (part time) Lieutenant Governor of Vermont when
the Governor died in office, making him Governor. I don't remember the
left questioning his ability to be President or leader of the National
Democratic Party based on any perceived lack of credentials.

Sarah Palin is an excellent choice for VP. She brings far more
experience to the table than the crooked political hack from Chicago.
And she's a lot tougher than Hillary.

This country has got to find consensus if we are to have any chance of
pulling ourselves out of the hole we have all allowed ourselves to
stumble into. There is no chance of that from a candidate who has never
spoken up on any issue, and who is now calling his opponents "Liars".

McCain/Palin is the best political ticket I've seen in my lifetime.
Working with a Democratic Congress there is a real chance to get this
country back on track without all the posturing that has passed for
policy of late.
