Ahhh, so your argument ISN'T over what what she said, it's over what she
DIDN'T say.

This article is one of the better written articles about the subject.
Please note, it DOES agree (to some extent) that her rhetoric is
misleading; however, the final conclusion over Palin's general attitude
(and actions) about earmarks are consistent with what she said. Here are
some FACTS:

The earmark was already budgeted into the State's budget when she took
over as Governor. The budgeted amount was $113 million AT THAT TIME (it
was predicted to go much higher). After assuming office, and seeing what
was coming, she opted to remove it from the capital budget, which meant
no more money would be given to them, beyond the $36 million they had
already received. Yes, she kept that money, and applied it to other
alternatives. A wise move, in my opinion.

It's also noteworthy that Alaska's earmarks went from 54 the previous
year to 31 this year, and $550 million to $200 million.

Yes, I do believe that very much fits the "Thanks, but no thanks"
"rhetoric".

Your turn Stan.
