Hi Guys,

Please ignore this if you have already recieved it.  It was supposed to appear on da-list.

Hi Guys,

Let me break my silence and wish you all a Happy Spring, which is coming slowly.  There was frost on my boat this morning.  I am confident that Winter will eventually leave.

Julia & Jay
Thank you for the great set of information you sent us, and for your kindness and generosity in offering to host an Orcas party for us North West Rhodees who will be doing the fleet sail.  If I may speak on behalf the group, I / we gleefully accept your kind invitation.

Donna and I have decided to sleep on my boat for the duration, and Chris has indicated that he and his wife will be doing the same.  My buddy Greg will be doing the same, however we will be walking with a tent and sleeping bag for sleeping on land at the various islands if we so choose.  It's great to have options.

My buddy and I plan to arrive on Sunday June 14th at Anacortes, and launch at the big ramp on Spur Rd past the WS Ferry Landing that you mentioned.  Hunter Bay on Lopez sounds like a nice leg and a cool stop.  It would be great for us to continue the express or desires of places to go and stops to make in the formation of some kind of consensus of where we will go.  Apart from going to Jay and Julia for that party my desires will be fulfilled in just sailing about in the region, so I'm flexible.  I can recall Dave Bradley mentioning Roche Harbor, and I understand that's a great area for seeing the whales, so that might be another hot destination.

Again, thanks for the information about the ferries and tankers, and our ability to see them.  Radar reflectors is another layer of safety for those who have them, but it is good to know that you have never felt the need for them although you live there.  I may still get them.

The places you mentioned sounds great, " We have always liked Spencer Spit and Hunter Bay on Lopez, the state park islands around Orcas (Jones, Patos, Sucia, Matia and Clark/Barns), Stuart is nice and has hikes also.  Roche Harbor is fun and the English/ American Camp bay is very sheltered and nice."  Just doing this should keep us busy and happy.

Chris:

What's the weather doing with you down in Medford, and how is your boat upgrade going?  When are you expected to finish the project?  I am looking forward to meeting you and sailing together with you.  Could you send me your phone number; looks like I have lost it somehow?  Do you have any number 1 destination for this trip, or are you pretty flexible as I am?  Send us some pictures of the boat, you know we will enjoy that.

Dave:

How are things going with you and how was your family vacation?  I know there is always the rest and recovery after the vacation.  How did Sea Cloud handle the winter?  Is her bilge dry and have you had a chance to take her out as yet for the season?  When you get a chance could you send me a few shots of your motor to tiller linkage; I have been hunting the Internet for different ways of setting up a similar system.

Steve:

How are you doing?  Our fleet sail is still on June 15 to 21, and I will be leaving Pullman on the afternoon of June 14th for Anacortes.  I have no plans to be on the west side before then, but if something comes up that requires me to be there, I will be sure to give you a buss.  I never tire of looking at boats, and particularly Rhodes 22.

The countdown is on, and I guess the chatter about this trip might increase.

Greg:

I might need some help detecting the break in the cable leading to my mast head light.  I'm devoting 2 hours to the project this evening.  Stop by if you have the time.

Have you and Dan registered for the Regatta in Clarkston this weekend.  I've taken the plunge; I'm in.

Caesar Paul
