Thanks Hank,
I am very new to sailing and this is my first real sail boat. I am learning
some of the terminology. However what do you call the rope you tie to the
anchor chain, and the rope you tie to the dock?

Derek

Derek,

There are no ropes on a boat. There is running rigging and standing
rigging. Running rigging consists of the lines, such as halyards and
sheets, that are used to control the sails. The standing rigging on a
rhodes 22 consists of stainless steel stranded wire to support the mast such
as the forestay, side upper and lower stays and the aft stays. Gotta keep
up with the terminology. :-)
