Tom,
The GPS instruction s should describe the wiring.  Lacking a manual, look on the web, and if nowhere else, the accessory sub-site should accomplish the same.  As I recall, the power wires are red/black, data is brown, maybe a data ground, also a 'ready to send' wire.  A plotter usually supplies a raw harness for other GPS tasks, but I use redundancy for cross-checking the position information.
