[Rhodes22-list] How fast does your R22 go?

Wally,

Good story, and it's not that hard to believe.

The first time I exceed hull speed it was on a run under main alone; no
Genoa at all. Waves were pushing against the transom and spinning my
elevated prop. 6.3 knots was the most I remember. Had I had the guts to
put out more sail, I probably would have approached your speed.

6.6 knots on a run was the most I've seen on my boat, and of course my
sailing buddy was at the helm instead of me.

I don't know if I've exceed 5.5 knots on a close reach. I hit 5.8 on a beam
to close reach with the 175 Genoa completely unfurled. I had teenagers on
board who only wanted to bury the rail. I told them that it would only slow
the boat down so it did nothing for my credibility when we started to go
that fast.
