Ron,
 
My guess is that the other two pins could be used to connect two other lights, with the hot wires going to each pin,and the ground wires sharing the single ground.
 
More knowledgable rhodees could correct or confirm if we are correct.

Thanks for the reply.  Could the remaining two plugs be used for an  anchor 
light?  I've not taken apart the plug so I  don't know if one can hook up 
additional wires. Regards to the family.

On my boat two of those pins are dummies.

Three of the pins, and sockets are of the same size, and the fourth one, a 
bit larger than the others. My black or ground wire is attached to the 
larger socket or recepticle You can then use a tester to find out which of 
the other pin recepticle is live and be sure to connect your plug wires 
accordingly.

Can anyone tell me what the four prongs on the electrical socket that
