Very good point,Rick. I do have a small lake mindset, but I have been out
on Lake Erie when a storm blew up,and if your more than a mile from
protection, you better have a good storm plan ready.I think I would still
leave the anchor, and rode on the cockpit floor, secure the tiller, grab the
bitter end of the rode and the last 20 feet thread it outside the shrouds
on the port side and in threw the bow pulpit and the fair lead and cleat
it.Once back in the cockpit,Idle the motor and put in nutrual, when the
waves start pushing the boat backwards, heave the anchor as hard as I can
to port and forward. Then I would feed out the rest of the rode, tossing
the last 20 feet or so still in a coil to port and pray for a good hook.

When motoring into a storm,do you put a little sail out to ease the motion
of the waves? Which, both or neither?

Thanks for giving me something I can use later

Jerry
