Hey Elle,
	I'm gonna do the turtle thang and stick my neck out.  For you to
have that much water I think that the very tiny crack, probably just gel
coat would not account for the amount of water in the boat.  The teak
"threshold" where the companionway hatch rest might be the source.  It is
usually attached with threaded bolts and then a wooden plug over the screw
head.  If enough water cascades down the companionway hatch (especially if
the rain was horizontal) the water might find its way in through the piano
hinge and then onto the threshold and "under drip" the threshold. You might
make a horizontal rain storm with a hose and put someone in the cabin to
observe. Good luck.

Hi, guys,
Here's a boat item...!
After the rain I found mega water in my boat....in the bilge & in the port
side compartment at floor level. Deductive reasoning (ha) led me to think
that there was a problem with the hole for the pennant. I found what appears
to be a crack in the hole that the centerboard pennant leads through.
Looking inside, I saw that a wooden support for under the companionway
opening was wet....and so was the floor & the bilge was full. 
Here afe pix...what is the consensus...and will cleaning out the crack,
opening it slightly  & caulking it w/ LifeCaulk or one of its cousins solve
it or am I in for a lesson in fiberglass??
Here are photos; the last few are remnants of the storm...
