Chris,

Only the one bilge area, two if you include the lazarette.  I've never put antifreeze in it but I'm near my boat and can check on it on a regular basis.  While the boat was in the water, I once had the water in the cockpit drain freeze followed by a big rain and another freeze.  I had a mini ice skating rink in my cockpit.  It quickly melted and drained with no damage.

I always get a little water in my lazarette, probably from the hole for the motor lift belt.  My side windows leak but most of the water seems to get soaked up by the cushions (which dry before mildewing) or gets caught in glasses and such in the shelf above the galley.

I went sailing on Saturday and expected a lot of water in the bilge from the storm.  It was bone dry.  As Elton predicted, I think some of my leaks have become plugged with dirt.  I take that as a good reason not to clean my boat.

My boat constantly gets covered in pine needles about 4" in length.  It amazes me how many of them find their way into the lazarette and cabin.

60 degrees and 9 mph winds this afteroon.  Think I'll sneak out for a couple of hours.

I went down to my boat on Friday and put extra spring lines on due to the wind and high tide.  The wind and rain was pretty constant for several days due to Ida.  Sunday was a beautiful sunny and warm day and I spent most of it taking everything off my boat to prepare for winter.  My bilge has been bone dry all season however on Sunday I found a couple of buckets full of water in the bilge.  My Port side cushion was also pretty soaked.  I have had a slight drip at the rail thru deck fitting throughout the season and used some silicone sealant on the rail and shrouds were they penetrate the deck.  I think the water in my boat is from the rain and while it is dripping at the rail thru deck fitting I think it migrates from another thru deck fitting to this location.  I plan to have the boat hauled in a couple of weeks but will still need to keep an eye on rain water so it doesn't freeze and cause damage in the bilge and or lazaret.  Do owners put antifreeze in the bilge and lazaret during the winter?  I don't plan to tarp my boat.  Is the compartment directly around the centerboard trunk the only bilge area or are there others?  There appears to be a small space below the holding and water tank but that appears to be about it.

Hi, guys,
Here's a boat item...!
After the rain I found mega water in my boat....in the bilge & in the port side compartment at floor level. Deductive reasoning (ha) led me to think that there was a problem with the hole for the pennant. I found what appears to be a crack in the hole that the centerboard pennant leads through. Looking inside, I saw that a wooden support for under the companionway opening was wet....and so was the floor & the bilge was full. Here afe pix...what is the consensus...and will cleaning out the crack, opening it slightly  & caulking it w/ LifeCaulk or one of its cousins solve it or am I in for a lesson in fiberglass??
Here are photos; the last few are remnants of the storm...
