[Rhodes22-list] Sunday sail

Rob,

It looks like Alice and I both have similar problems. The motor lift
bar doesn't travel in the middle of the tracks. One end of the bar is
almost an inch from the track and the other end of the bar is pushing
hard against the track, bending the end.

Thinking the weight of the outboard wasn't evenly distributed on the
motor mount, I moved my outboard as far as I could toward the lose end
but that didn't help. Silicon lubrication helps a little, but that's
just treating the symptoms instead of the cause. The tracks are
installed correctly on the boat so the tops and bottoms are the same
distance apart. With the weight of the motor and me, the boat heels
towards the bending end, but I can't imagine that would cause the motor
mount to slide to one side. The motor is too heavy to manually center
the lift during operation.

Any ideas?

Lee

Lee,
Two beautiful boats, I'm envious. Did Alice get her motor lift fixed? -

Gary,

That was me and Alice on her boat. She is a beauty:

We were delivering Beats Prozac through Kent Narrows to a marina where
she'll be dry-docked for the winter. No sailing but with the great
weather
and company it was a most enjoyable day. We were prepared for a strong
current through the Narrows and weren't disappointed. While waiting for
the
bridge to open we were lightly motoring into the current yet still going
backwards. I was glad Alice had a big 9.9 outboard on her boat.

My boat isn't as new or pristine as Alice's, but Stan told me that red
hulls
are faster:

Don't know about rum-fueled yellow hulls.

Lee,
Was that you in Kent Narrows this afternoon about 4 pm across from
Harris
Crab House? Dark blue hull with furled jib and IMF (red covers)?
Beautiful
boat on a great fall day.
