[Rhodes22-list] Wingnuts (not political)

As I stated in a previous reply, a lockwasher is not suited to this 
application.  Self locking nuts (aircraft fasteners) were developed just for 
this type of application.  Loss of the mast bolt assembly WILL result in 
catastrophic failure of the mast system.  This can cause major loss of 
property and become extremely dangerous to individuals on and around the 
craft.  I see no reason to accept a less than ideal solution.  I do not see 
it as an unrealistic requirement for one to have a pair of wrenches 
available when raising the mast to secure the bolt and locking nut.

As far as your history with a wing nut, they have a saying in the financial 
world "History is no guarantee of future performance."
