[Rhodes22-list] Pictures of demasting suggested by Rick

Mike, Bill,

I think this forestay rigging will be a new one on all of us. It might be good to assess damage to the boat, probably to repair locally to Bill. A new chainplate can replace the front lower with an external tang bolted thru the side of the cabin. I have never seen a chainplate fail like this, but can imagine the intense shock force created with the forestay failure that occured.

My main point is to be thankful that no one was injured and make a cool evaluation of what remedy is needed. Post additional pictures as you can, and the skippers here will be able to help you. You have a wealth of talent and experience with Mike and the other men and women of the fleet. It appears that the former owner did not use good judgement with the placement of the forestay.
