 Sling,

Great account of your launching! Everyone enjoyed the pics too. Many did not know what Ed or Rummy look like or why
boats here on the list seem to have drinking themed names. I found an old pic of what I believe is Rummy and Ed together that may explain.

Subject: Re: [Rhodes22-list] The launch of Second Wind

Thank you for the warm welcome. The name Second Wind does come from a song

but not the Jimmy Buffet version. The Hard Travelers, a still relevant folk

group that plays around the Chesapeake area put out a song, Sailing on a

Second Wind. Lyrics include “We go sailing, sailing, sailing on a Second

Wind and it is stronger, stronger, stronger than its ever been and just

when, when we thought we reached the end, we go sailing, sailing on a second

wind.” I did learn from the list that Second Wind is the most popular name

for sail boats in the US. I learned that currently no boat on the list has

that name but there may have been one on years ago. However, right across

from my new slip “Second Wind” is writ large across the transom of another

boat. That must be the Jimmy Buffet version. One other list influenced

name is the moniker “Sling”. I lived in Singapore for the past six years,

home of the Singapore Sling and the basket ball team the Singapore Slingers.

I thought names after drinks were in vogue on the list. I don’t know where

I got that idea.
