Mike
I had Triad add surge Brakes to an older trailer that has the tongue  
extension. There is a flexible rubber hose with a coupling similar to  
the ones on compressed air tools. You leave it connected when  
trailering, and disconnect when you need to use the tongue extended.  
Unfortunately this coupling rusted severely after just one launch and  
has been disconnected since, about 3 years. But it did pass inspection  
when new, as brakes are reqd in Ct
