And we have used a line thrown over the boom and looped around one of 
the handholds on the cabin wall (ours are open ended) . Only in light 
air, never tied, always held by hand which works for us we are always 
doublehanded. It does help particularly on a broad reach or a run in 
chop. We are musing about David's solutions.
