[Rhodes22-list] weekend cruise Re: so who is sailing this weekend?

Lee,
We are certainly lazy cruisers - most of the time. And we are
anything but purists. We motored two thirds of this trip and
thoroughly enjoyed it. We might not have enjoyed all that motoring if
we had encountered big wakes in your section of the Chester but it
was pretty benign both up and back. Got a bit rolly on our way up
towards Rock Hall but not really uncomfortable. The only time we got
really waked was approaching Hail Point from upriver on Monday. As
all the boats are converging there a big powerboat came up fast
behind and cut between us and the mark. We had time and space grab a
hand hold and to turn toward his wake but barely. It was easily a
four foot wave and went right up to the cabin top. Also buried the
bow in a wake and got water over the cabin top and down the sides of
the cockpit on our way up to Rock Hall but we had the cabin slider
closed and the cockpit pretty clear so we were the only things that
got wet and in that heat, it felt good. I do like how the Yamaha 8HT
handles wakes and waves. It doesn't seem to come out of the water
nearly as much as our old Honda 8.

As for the tea bags, we survived on lean rations. Actually, with the
decaf tea we drink, if you make a second cup with the same teabag you
can hardly tell the difference. It's pretty pathetic. And for
everything else we seem to have accumulated backups and workarounds
to the backups over all these years of cruising.

Hope to see you out there some time!

Mary Lou
