[Rhodes22-list] LED Lights (ART)

Joe,

Just be careful about hoisting the lantern above occuppied spaces. Make
sure that the lantern is secured well and the battery box has a screw or
other safetry closure mechanism. Even at anchor, passing boats and weather
can generate waves that will rock the boat quite a bit. You don't want
several pounds of lantern or "D" cells cascading down on you from twenty
feet up. In addition to a line to hoist, use one or two lines to stabilize
motion. A plastic lantern flung against the mast could be easily cracked or
damaged, releasing it's energy sources to the unsuspecting guests below.

Great idea! My mom, in her quest to please me, said that she already bought
me an LED lantern for the boat. Is this what you're using? I figure one of
these would also serve well hoisted into the rigging for an all around light
at night. They are rated at 32 hours on full power with four D cells. No
worry about draining the marine battery on overnights. Thanks.

Joe

Joe,

Look at P/N 36010 @ Home Depot. I have an identical #8 screw at strategic
locations in the cabin and move two lights where they are needed. Bright
enough, great longevity. Look under LED and you will find a full array of
choices.
