It goes on the bow mount.....I'll run the trollling motor I have mounted on the port side so my hands will be free.
If I 'Pancho' the gun I may overturn the kayak getting it around to the front.

So when you paddle over on the kayak, will you mount the shotgun on a swivel
or just carry it on your back with the two bandoliers alla Poncho Villa?
Now that I have the image in my head (and yours) I can't get rid of it.

rumy,
I'm with you...but not sure how far the guys from another county are willing
to go to find the gunman....I'll know more after the deputy checks in with
me at the end of the week. I won't let it go...I'll watch for activity over
there & maybe drive over...(it's 75 yards across the creek)..takes 15 min to
drive over.
time to get out the kayak.
thanks for your interest.

Elle,
It doesn't matter who fired the shot, they should still be held accountable
and pay for the repairs to your property. Just my 2 cents worth.

rummy,
It was a straight shot....from across the creek. there is  no other place
it could have come from based on the angle & the  height above ground.
I'll post any further developments as I get  them.
One wrinkle is that the house was sold a month or so ago....and I  suspect
that it was the previous owners...in which case the issue is  moot.

Elle,
Based on the photos you posted, it looks like a pretty  straight shot, not
one that was shot into the air and then came  down. I would hate to say
that
it looks intentional, but the shooter  should have known what was in front
of  him. I am interested to learn  what the police discover.

hit what you aim at range is maybe  50 yds.  travel  far enough to go
through
the wall, couple hundred  yards or maybe a  bit more.
