Mary Lou,

That's correct.  The problem is that paint cannot tolerate contact with the
wrap.  For my loose tarp, I build a PVC tube frame around the gunnel to keep
the material away from the paint.

Also, temperatures above 70 degrees can damage the paint under a wrapped
boat.
