[Rhodes22-list] Bowsprit

I guess if you ran our existing 175 out to the point on a bowsprit, it would
be sheeted a little closer to the wind when pulled back to the fairlead.
Might get you a degree or two closer to the wind without having to furl and
come inside the widest shrouds.  Probably not worth the effort, but an
interesting thought.

The whole idea of a bowsprit is to increase the amount of sail area.  
Personally, I think the 175 already adds sufficient sail area. Several times
on  
a downwind run I have buried the bow because I was over powered. Although 
not  the same, I get the same effect by using a whisker pole on the 175.
