Stephen,

So, so true.

The sliding hatch can be held securely downward with a line fixed between the poptop crossbar and a small cleat located below, on the step platform.  

The hatch can be held in the sternmost position by fastening it thru a slot in the companionway door panels.  Let me know if you have a question.
