[Rhodes22-list] Rhodes List- Robertson's Rules Of Order

Hey Ben -- buy these people some more liquor while we debate.

I have been off the list for several years - I used to post as Moses2u. When
I just recently signed back on I
was sent a charter that said in part:

* Any other subject that might be found at a sailor's bar or the
Clubhouse Bar, Including Rhodes sailboats or Rhodes sailors' travels,
events, family, jokes, quotations, pets, etc.
* The level of discussion does not have to be fit for a child, but
some good taste is expected.
I guess the question should be who defines "some good taste" - I for one
have regularly been attributed with "no taste what so ever" and no one has
ever accused me of having any let alone some "good taste". You however are
an elegant guy - perhaps a lengthy definition of the term with author's
comments are necessary - something legal like.
  - by the way- I just thought of this post while looking at the picture of
my Rhodes 22 and contemplating what size head sail to buy.

On a more serious note - I am told that people left the list when it became
uncivil - -- being offended is fine - so is offending someone, to a point -
-- but when we are all sitting around the sailor's bar let's not hit each
other with a bottle just to make a point --

I vote that people can throw bilge water but they can't throw the bucket,
and they can splash their own beer but they may not spill anyone else's
beer, nor may they throw their bottle, chair, or any object that
could render a sailor unfit for duty.

If you go back to the posts to which I am posting a new reply you will see
that we are late in having our yearly debate on appropriate posting rules.
If you follow this thread back to December 2009 you can rehash this debate
in your minds without actually having it again.
