[Rhodes22-list] keel CB issue

Hi Andrew,
Can't tell from the pics - are you certain the problem is in the 
fiberglass or is it just pittting in the paint? Obviously would 
require different repairs.

re the bottom paint and growth: Are you in fresh water or salt? I 
forget. Different growth patterns I think. I was once told that you 
tend to get less growth where there is no light - i.e. in the 
centerboard trunk or on top of the board. I have no idea if that is 
the reason but it has certainly been true most years for us here on 
the Chesapeake. But not all.- one year we had all kinds of stuff 
including baby crabs in the CB trunk. They would come up when we 
pulled the CB pennant. Also depends on what paint you use. Some is 
good for multiple seasons. Others lose effectiveness after the boat 
is out of the water for a few weeks and must be prepainted. If you 
are using a multiple season paint and have had no problems I wouldn't 
worry about it.
