Bob:

Define "a lot of weight on the boat transom."  I'll have the rudder/tiller and my little 6 hp outboard.  Souldn't be a problem, I think.

What that means is that the mid point of the boat is centered on the hub of the axle wheel for a single axle trailer as a rule of thumb.  Precise measurement would give you proper tongue weight.  I add that because if you have a lot of weight on the boat transom, you could still get some "fishtailing."
