[Rhodes22-list] Jib sheet connection

I've got  a 1/4 " line, two inch diameter loop tied in my clue for attaching my
whisker pole for down wind runs.  It shares the space with my Genoa sheets.

I've got a large shackle on the clew that I use to attach a whisker pole for
long downwind runs.  It's a concern for sure.  But a two tight wet knots
flinging around on the clew could be just about as bad as a shackle.

John,
That makes sense to me. I was trying to figure out any down sides to adding
hardware on the clew and it makes sense that it could become a weapon and
do  damage to flesh as well as fiberglass.

What I  have heard is that you don't want any hardware on the clew of the
jib.  When the wind is up and there is any slack in the jib
somebody/something will  get slapped hard with that shackle when the wind
whips it  around.

Cheers!
