That is indeed another option.  My cabin roof wood was rotted and I went the cabin sidewall route.  I'll post a picture of my cabin top access hole tomorrow. - rob

One word of caution.  I rebedded my aft lower chainplate a couple of years ago.
I expected the chainplate to go straight down along the cabin wall so I drilled a hole
in the cabin liner - no chainplate.  It turns out that the chainplate is bent by 90
degrees and bedded under the plywood spacer.  I replaced the rotted wood and
epoxyed around the chainplate.
