Joe:  The cockpit is supposed to be self bailing.  When the boat is dry and sitting idle, are the two cockpit drains at the stern - viewed from the stern -  above the water?   What engine do you have?  Could it be so heavy along with too much "stuff" in the laz that these drains are below the water line?   Also, check to be sure that there is nothing clogging these drains.

Hi Everyone:

I just got a call from my marina on the Bohemia River:  My boat apparently took on so much water at her mooring in last night's storm that she swamped and sank (not to the bottom, but to the standard R-22 depth). They got it pumped out and tied up at the dock.  This is m second big water episode in three weeks.  I wonder where this water is finding my cabin.  The laz is locked (though it still might take on some water, I know) and the pop top is secured.  I wonder if the access under the starboard bench leading to the cabin wight be the culprit given the jostling a boat takes in a haphazard storm. Water in the cockpit might find this egress before it finds the drain.  Last time, all of my galley equipment below the counter was wet.  How big is this hole in your boats? Can I decrease the size of my hole?  Right now, I feel like an A-hole, not having addressed this problem.

What will need replacing?  What will need repairing?  I have insurance, so I suppose it's like a car crash, except on the water:  The marina hauls out the boat and surveys the damage and Insurance makes me an offer I can't refuse.  Would I fare any better at a slip than on a mooring?  Thanks for the support.  (Am "I" getting to be a PITA to you?)
