If the scratches are deep enough, you might be better filling these with an
Epoxy filler (Bondo will do). Gel coat does not fill well. The only other
option is to tape around the whole area and lay-up several coats of gel then
settle down to some long hard sanding.....progressive from 220 to 600 wet
n'dry.

There's no quick and easy way
