Be aware, this is his pre season treatment, NOT for consumption. My friend treats the full tank of water with a full cup of bleach, let's it stand to kill everything for a few hours. He does this several times or  until the water runs clear. He then rinses the tank several times with clean water. The final fill he adds the
Recommended bleach for drinking water.  Me? I do about the same as he does then I carry bottled water bro drink. The tank water I use to wash the deck and emergency water. In 13 years I have not had an emergency. I think this is called water ballast. I feel the need to scrub the inside of the tank with a tank with a brush.

Several years ago someone cut an a 6" access  hole in the water tank top to fit a screw type access hole cover. I think it was Pamela V.  I am going to do use this process this season, and find a tube brush to scrub the hoses. A dairy farm supply store should have a brush
For this purpose. We have a "Fleet Farm" store nearby where a brush might be found..
