Hello Rhodes list,
Please consider this a heads up on the center board trunk. I have a 1985 Rhodes on Long Island sound out of Noank. This is my story about the hurricane that hit Palmer's Cove. I have a private mooring in a fairly shallow area. When the hurricane struck the waves were very steep and the boat got slammed around sharply. The center board was in the retracted position. The hull got slammed down into the sandy bottom pushing the center board into the trunk cracking the cap. This caused major leaking. Upon hauling the boat, pulling the cap, I discovered there is a section in the center board that pushes into the center board cap. I have since ground down that portion of the center board. I think Stan ought to modify the center board so that in the fully retracted position with the pin pushed up, the board will not hit the center board cap.
Hope this helps,
Capt. Ed of Mz. Betty
