Thanks for the clarification (oil not varnish). You remind me how I enjoyed (truly) the smell of the oil.

Yes, it's the oil, not the varnish. I let one coat soak for 30 minutes,
then applied the second coat and let that stand for 15 minutes. Then used a
dry cloth to aggressively wipe down the wood to eliminate all residue. By
the next day I could use the cabin. I'm doing this with my boat in the
water in Gulf Shores AL.
