Rob,
I don't own the mast raising system, but have used it several times with
other owners. The line should be of substantial strength to handle the loads
associated with the hardware.

Rummy,
Hey, at least I know I'm in good company. I guess I'll drop the mast.
The mast raising system did make this fairly easy. Although I'm going to
replace the line on it prior to using it again. I think what's on there is a
piece of old close line and I was convinced it was going to break when the
mast was half way up. Scared the crap out of me. - rob

Yeah, I was hoping to avoid that. But might have to.

Thought about releasing all stays and shrouds except rears and forward
and seeing if could tilt mast forward enough to slid it in. Don't think I
can get enough angle on it.
Thought about doing above and using a pry bar on the mast step under the
mast and lifting up the whole thing a couple of inches.
Thought about enlarging the existing slot big enough to accept the
slider.
Would do this at the very base of the mast where the structural integrity
would not be compromised. At this point the mast is resting on the
base.

Any other thoughts? Or just suck it up and drop the mast? - rob

I think you get to have some more practice lowering and raising the mast!
