[Rhodes22-list] Oops

It takes two skilled sailboat captains to hit each other out in the middle of
nowhere.

Since we were the only boats around I thought he was just coming my way to
say "hi." By the time I realized he was getting uncomfortably close it was
too late give way off the wind for fear he would also. I was on the
starboard tack which helps with the DNR police and insurance, but that
doesn't make me feel any less stupid; or sad.

The bow of his Sabre28 hit the rubrail and cracked my hull and deck. His
boat road up on my deck and as he slid off his anchor (stored on his bow)
pulled one of my inside shrouds out of the chainplate/fiberglass and snapped
the other one in two. The poptop mast connection broke and some of my
electronics quit working.

Fortunately no one was hurt, and hey if it's totaled I may get a downpayment
on a new boat. :)
