Marc,

I carry spare rigging hardware as you indicated including an extra turnbuckle. I also carry:

Small toolbox
Flashlights with extra batteries including large LED rechargeable w/12v cable.
Additional fuel (2 gallons)
Extra dock lines
Bungie cords
Lighters
External USB battery for cell phones/iPad etc... (I use waterproof iPad for GPS)
Extra 12v USB cables
Spare LED light bulbs
Handheld VHF (also have installed VHF)
iPhone in waterproof case

Can't help with the engine problems. My tohatsu has been bullet proof and start on first pull.
