One more thing to consider...voltmeter doesn't give you all of the information about the current state of your batteries. Although it does give you a rough idea.

I bought one of these simple monitors that plugs into the 12v outlet.

The 6hp motor will not overcharge your batteries. But depending on how you are charging them they can be overcharged.
