Thanks for the suggestions Chris. Which raises the question whether there
are any other Rhodes 22 on Lake Ontario?

	You made the right choice!  So you have had the boat since 1992?
The good news is that a rebuild is in most peoples' abilities.  I have done
it twice and helped on a 3rd.  Luckily it did not involve a lot of
fiberglass work.  Having restored a much larger and older boat ( Coronado 34
1968) in Mexico over the last few years (still not done), the Rhodes is a
much more doable project.  If you get lonely, there are a number of Rhodes
on the other side of your lake.  Invite them to beautiful Canada and
organize an exotic tour!  If you have a good trailer, do a tour of the east
coast of the U.S. Stopping at some of the most beautiful sailing venues on
the coast and meet up with the resident Rhodies, I know for sure that there
are a large number of them who would love to show you their sailing locals.
Or head down to Florida during your winter time (starts in August, right?)
and enjoy some warm weather and Rhodie companionship.  Or if you are really
ambitious and a proud Canadian, check out the next Rhodes Rally in the
Pacific NW (well South west for you) for next year.  I am going to try to
get the guys to go to Desolation Sound B.C. next year(you read my journals
about that a couple of years ago, yes?)   Anyway, you will have a great time
with this boat whatever you do.

I was introduced to the RC22 at the Toronto Boat how in 1972 but never saw
it there again. I found the boat I have now 20 years later and was delighted
when I did. The fellow I bought it from had no idea why I was so excited to
find it but Stan's write up had stayed with me all those years and
thoroughly convinced me that this was the best boat in its class for me.
Nothing since has persuaded me otherwise even though I have had to invest a
lot of time bringing it back into good condition. But it is hard to enjoy a
regatta of Rhodes when you are the only one.

	You may be right about being the oldest. (boat that is).  Over the
years I do recall several Canadian Rhodies but can't recall any specifics.
I know back around 78 or 79 Stan sold one to a fellow from Montreal for sure
as I was a "volunteer" at the shows when I was living in Annapolis.

I have not seen anyone identify a boat older than mine since I have been on
the list. It is a 74, hull 244 and yes, it was called the Rhodes Continental
back then. I would be curious to know why "continental" was dropped from the
name. I also think it might be the only R22 in Canada.

Nice to hear that there are still some'76's like my old one still out there.
Hey I wonder, who has the oldest Rhodes? (that would be a "Continental" I
think).  I know that there is at least one '74.  Who out there has a more
vintage one?

Hi guys.  I'm also a 76 Rhodes owner with a hull id # GBX220078N76.  I'm in
Winston-Salem, NC.  Am also going to try to go from wire to bar & car
traveler at some time, perhaps when I redo all of the standing rigging. 
Have had my hands full with fixing centerboard trunk leak (fixed now, thank
goodness),  trailer bunk repairs and reupholstering the cabin cushions. 
"Jaws" is finally starting to look better than some of the other poor
neglected boats at the marina.  Now if I just had a larger lake
nearby..Since trailer is secure now I may try to get up to Smith Mtn. Lake. 
Have a good/safe 4th everyone.
