[Rhodes22-list] Hull numbers

Odd. I wonder if your boat was renumbered by 
someone in Ohio at sometime, perhaps because they 
didn't have clear title or because the original 
numbers had been damaged or the plate was missing 
or perhaps it was before such numbers were required.

Our numbers (General Boats built R22 - 1991) are 
in the same spot but because Fretless was repainted, the plate is white.

Not all Rhodes 22s have a number beginning with 
GBX. Evidently some of the early ones had 
something else. Stan used a series of builders to 
build the early R22s but I don't know exactly 
when he started building them himself or how that ties in to hull numbers.

There was also an issue at one point of a builder 
building a knock off of the R22 and selling it 
under a different name until a lawsuit from GB 
forced them to stop so those boats would look 
like R22s but have a completely different hull 
number so it's possible that your boat was one of those and later renumbered.
