My sailboat is gelcoat but I have a painted powerboat. Because I reuse the
shrink wrap, there are places where I tape the wrap directly to the hull. I
have never had a problem. My powerboat was painted around 15 years ago.

I have heard you should not use shrinkwrap on a painted boat, that it
can cause blisters in the paint where they come into contact.
Fretless was painted by GB in 1998 and the paint still looks good. Is
your hull painted or is it gelcoat?

We've always used a tarp over a PVC frame for winter storage.
Generally get 2 to 3 years out of the tarp.
