anyone who remembers Stan Musial must be almost as old as me.

do you have a GB furler or a CDI furler

we can always make a stay ($200) to match your original if you send us 
the broken one.   You could put it in the furler fairly easily if it is 
a CDI.

Or you could see what a local rigger can do for how much.

PS:  the List has it wrong.  the fore stay should always be kept very 
tight and that is what the rapid tension adjuster line across the double 
back stays does.
