The backstay tensioner at different heights is a possibility as are
different length, fittings and adjustments of both the forestay and
the backstays and compression of the mast step (or at the base of the
compression post) which several owners have reported. The distance
between the backstays at the adjuster on ours has always been
somewhere between 6 to10 inches.
