[Rhodes22-list] Rudder attachment

Mary Lou is right...this is not original....the original on both of my boats (84 and 98) are pins about 1/4 diameter that are attached to rudder. The top one is shorter and slides through both flanges but no attachment. The bottom one is longer (thus allowing to set bottom pin in before aligning top pin. Bottom pin has a side spring catch (I don't know what else to call it) that needs to be lifted to allow removing rudder. This will allow rudder to come off in an emergency before the transom is ripped off (my theory, one would need to ask Stan)

I can take some pictures to post (I think I can see this with the boat in the water) but it will take a few days before I can get to the boat.

When I got the boat, one of the blades of the prop (aluminum) was broken and the impeller of the motor was full of sand. Makes me wonder if they didn't do something to the rudder and this was their repair. I don't know if the rudder is too close to the boat, but the boat does not track correctly. Seems to want to wander to starboard when she should be pointed forward. - Rob
