Thanks for posting.  I am (hopefully) years away from needing an new outboard but it looks very interesting.  No more worries about stale gas, carburetor problems, etc.  Only downside I can see is that it may be difficult to find a place to refill the propane tank if you are doing any extended cruising.  Also, it looks like you get around 10 hours per tank so would have to carry multiple tanks if you were going to be remote for several days/weeks (though that would also be the case with gasoline).

Please be sure to update us on how it works if/when you get one.

Marc, Welcome to the List.  I have read only good reviews of the Lehr
outboard; I advise waiting until the remote control option becomes
available. When I ordered my recycled R22 for delivery one year ago, I
arranged to ship a new Honda 9.9 HP outboard to Edenton for the GB crew to
mount on the transom ( along with the motor to tiller linkage which has
proven invaluable- I highly recommend it). Honda offered a remote control
option which I wanted.  Even a little experience will show you it is
desirable to be looking forward when docking, not having to contort
yourself  to reach the throttle/shifter, inevitably distracting your
attention and vision from where they ought to be.  But Stan wrote me that
he thought the throttle and shifter cables would kink or bind up by having
to pass through a transom opening similar to the one the engine's fuel and
electrical cables pass through.  I did not think to suggest to Stan that he
just drape the cables for the remote across the top of the transom and over
the lazarette cushion-it wouldn't have been neat and out of sight but that
would have been ok if it worked.  But I did not think of that so I ended up
with a standard tiller throttle (tilted vertically) and a separate shifter
paddle.  Both controls are impossible - too low down and over the transom-
for this six footer to reach while looking ahead, which led to unnecessary
dramas last summer when getting used to approaching my slip- no bad
outcomes but the stress...I fitted a PVC pipe to the tiller and an
extension to the shifter paddle so that I could reach them with my right
arm extended horizontally straight aft , left hand on tiller and eyes
facing the bow , left foot on the cockpit sole , right knee on the laz
cushion-awkward and a strain but tolerable for the final approach to the
slip.  In short, a remote  mounted inside the cockpit ahead of you would be
a comfortable and safer convenience; well worth waiting for.          Enjoy
