I also use audacity to convert cassette tapes to digital audio. It works
very well for a free program. I bought a cassette player with a micro usb
connector and plug it into my computer. Works great.

Excellent free (and add free) download. Then I have an Ion turntable that
connects via USB, and for tape source I use an RCA to USB connection which
I
can't seem to find right at the moment to tell you what brand it is. But
it
allows me to connect stereo audio and video to it and capture it on the
computer, so my old VCR tapes can be digitally archived as well as any old
cassettes, 8-tracks, real to real etc. The video/audio connection device
can be found at your local electronics store, I think I got mine at Fry's
for about 20-30.00

Chris--

Thanks Chris. I look forward to following the link.

Please share whatever you discover about "collector, buyer, or interested
archive organization." I recently opened a long-stored box. (I thought it
was from around 1990 but the newspaper packing was 1984.)

What's in it? 78 records, including a complete album by Danny K, a complete
album by the Hot Club of France (Django Reinhardt and Stephan Grappelli),
various big-band records including one on which Tommy Dorsey Benny Goodman
Gene Krupa and others are all part of the orchestra. Two or three
consisting
of duets by Rosemary Clooney and Marlena Dietrich. Etc. I'll try to use
SPIN
IT AGAIN to make digitalized copies, but I don't want to keep the 78s.

Give Elton my best.

I am helping Stan find a new home/owner for Elton's collection of 70's,
80's, 90's records and recordings from his years with WLIR in NY. Check
out
the work in progress link to the web page. Any ideas or input on how to
find the right collector, buyer, or interested archive organization is
appreciated.
